GC Poppy seeds are small (about 1 mm [0.04 inch] in length), kidney-shaped, and greyish blue to dark blue in colour. They have a faint nutlike aroma and a mild, nutty taste especially popular in breads and other baked goods. GC Poppy seeds are rich in fiber, plant fats, and various other nutrients. Unwashed poppy seeds may be contaminated with morphine, codeine, and thebaine. Though these compounds may have pain-relieving properties, consuming unwashed poppy seeds is risky and should only be done under medical supervision. Poppyseed oil may help lower your risk of heart disease. It may also support wound healing and help prevent scaly skin lesions, although more studies are necessary.
