Young Coconut, also known as ma-prao on, is encased with a uniquely shaped ivory shell. The Young coconut is harvested directly from the tree before it has time to age and drop like the more mature white and brown husked coconuts. Inside is a refreshing juice and a soft jelly-like meat. Coconut is a large, nut-like fruit that grows high in trees. Coconuts have very hard shells and sweet, white flesh inside. The word comes from coco, "grinning face," in Portuguese, which may refer to the three face-like holes in a coconut shell.
