Ganesh Chaturthi is a major Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings. It fosters unity and community spirit, as people come together to install Ganesha idols in their homes and public pandals (temporary shrines). The festival lasts 10 days, during which devotees offer prayers, sweets like modaks, and perform cultural activities. The grand immersion (Visarjan) of Ganesha idols in water symbolizes the cycle of birth and death and reminds people of life's impermanence. It is especially significant in Maharashtra but is celebrated widely across India.
