PTI Cloves are the aromatic flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae, Syzygium aromaticum. They are native to the Maluku Islands in Indonesia. Cloves are a pungent warm spice with an intense flavor and aroma. Cloves have been an integral part of Indian kitchens since time, for their overpowering minty aroma and subtly spicy flavor. Clove is often a part of customary Indian spice mixes, such as garam masala, Goda masala, and Chettinad masala.

One of the most common uses of this aromatic spice is flavoring hot drinks, like mulled wine, Masala chai tea, and hot apple cider. Another is flavoring sweet dishes like stewed apples and pears, pumpkin pie, and gingerbread. Many cuisines include cloves, and it is also an ingredient in certain condiments, including ketchup and Worcestershire sauce.

Cloves have been used in natural medicinal practices, like Ayurvedic medicine and Chinese medicine, for thousands of years. With antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, cloves can help improve digestion and reduce inflammation. Cloves have many potential health benefits, including keeping blood sugar in check and helping block the growth of bacteria. PTI Cloves also contain beneficial vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin C, Vitamin K, manganese, and fiber. Vitamin C and eugenol are both antioxidants that can help slow the development of chronic disease. Manganese is an important key trace mineral for optimal brain functions and strengthening bones.

The eugenol that provides the flavor of cloves is also a pain-reliever and can help relieve toothache. They are inherently low in calories, making them ideal for weight loss, besides supplying ample amounts of fibers, to facilitate smooth digestion. Cloves are also rich in antiseptic, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. The anti-inflammatory compounds help heal sore throats, colds, and coughs, and headaches.

Store Cloves in an airtight container, preferably in a cool and dark place.
