Puja Greh Sindoor is a traditional red or orange-red coloured powder from India, usually worn by a married woman along the parting of their hair. The use of sindoor denotes that a woman is married in many Hindu communities. Sindoor also symbolizes the female energy of Sati, the ideal wife who sacrificed her life to save her husband's dignity. In actuality as well, it is considered to be the symbol of matrimony in Indian households and an essential part of a woman’s marriage. The main component of traditional sindoor is usually vermilion. No synthetic colour is used. It is used for social and religious markings in Hinduism.
