Pakora Masala is a spice blend that is mix with Besan or gram flour batter to prepare savory and crunchy vegetable fritters. Pakoras are a favorite Snack in northern India. Because pakoras are preparing from vegetables that are dipped in a spicy batter and then deep-fried to make fabulous fritters. To make a spicy batter, Shan Pakora / Bhajia Mix is most widely use all over India. So, Shan Pakora / Bhajia Mix is a spice blend of various real Indian spices, which is widely use in the Indian kitchen. Pakora masala can also be use for fried lentil savory and making onion bhaji. 

Pakoras are preparing from the batter of Gram Flour which is mix with Pakora masala, Garlic, and Ginger Paste. And, this batter is use to prepare different kinds of Pakoras by deep frying in Ghee or Oil. But these spicy Pakoras are serving hot with green coriander-tomato chutney or tomato sauce. For making Pakoras this Shan pakora masala mix gives the right balance between the various spice elements and other ingredients in the dish. Because Traditionally 10-15 individual spices are using in the making of Shan Pakora masala. You know that the main ingredients of pakora are vegetables. Vegetables are very rich in fiber that makes you easily feel full. By feeling full, you will think twice of consuming other snacks. Besides that, this snack is low in calories, so it is safe!

How nutritious is pakora?

Though it is deep-fried, pakora is still healthier than any other junk food. In one serving of pakora, you can find 166calories, 14.3g of carbohydrates, 9.9g of fats, 3.9g of proteins.

Shan Recipe: Pakora

1. Mix 3 chopped red onions (200g), gram flour (250g), Shan Pakora Masala (25g), salt (5g), baking soda (1/2 tsp), and water (250ml) together to make a thin uniform batter.

2. In a deep frying pan heat half a litre of cooking oil.

3. Pour spoonfuls of the batter gently into the oil to make small shapes and fry until golden brown on all sides.

4. Remove from oil and strain well. Dry excess oil if needed.

5. Serve hot with Podina Chutney.
