½ Cup of Kala Chana / Black Chickpeas

1 Teaspoon of Chaat Masala
½ a Teaspoon of Kala Namak or Black Salt To Taste

½ Finely Chopped Green Chilly

1 Teaspoon of Jeera (Cumin Seeds)

1/2 a Teaspoon of Haldi (Turmeric Powder)

1/2 a Teaspoon of Garam Masala

1 Teaspoon of Red Chilly Powder

1/2 a Cup of Bhujia (Besan Namkeen)
1 Tablespoon of Green Coriander

1 Teaspoon of Oil / Butter

Lemon Juice To Taste

Salt to Taste
Directions
Wash and soak the kala chana over night or soak them for about 5 to 6 hours.
The kala chana must become soft and big.
Take the kala chana into a pressure cooker and add some salt. Boil them for about 7 to 8 whistles and allow the pressure to naturally get released.
Allow the kala chana to get properly cooked. Drain the remaining water after the kala chana becomes soft and mashy in texture.
Take a pan or kadai and heat oil or butter. Add the cumin seeds and allow them to crackle.
Now add the haldi or turmeric powder, boiled kala chana, red chilly powder, garam masala, normal salt to taste, kala namak/black salt to taste and mix them well.
Cook the mixture on a low flame for about 5 minutes and then switch off the flame.
Add the chaat masala and mix the snack properly. Before you serve, add the chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, lemon juice and the green chilly pieces.
Take the delicious kala chana chat into a serving bowl and garnish it with bhujia or any kind of namkeen mixture along with the finely chopped coriander.
Recipe Note
* You can serve the kala chana salad with either green chutney or curd or imli/tamarind chutney as per your taste.
* Boondi, finely chopped cucumber, boiled mashed potato and fried peanuts can also be added to the chat to make it more tastier.
