1 Cup of Bengal Gram
-
1 Cup of Milk
2 Tsp of Coconut Powder
1/2 a Bunch of Coriander Leaves
2 Tsp of Oil

Salt To Taste
A Pinch of Turmeric Powder
-
½ Tsp of Mustard Seeds
-
1/2 Tsp of Jeera or Cumin
½ Tsp of Black Gram
-
1 Pod of Curry Leaves
Directions
Chop and clean the cabbage chunk into small pieces. Soak the Bengal gram and keep it aside for about 1hr.
Chop the onions and green chilies into small slices.
Heat oil in a pan. Add the mustard seeds, jeera and Bengal gram to the pan. Let it pop and now add the curry leaves, green chilies and onion pieces to the mixture and fry it for about 5 to 6 minutes.
Add cabbage and soaked Bengal gram by straining the water along with milk and close it with a lid. Let it cook until it is soft. Once the dal and cabbage is boiled remove the lid.
Let it cook until the milk evaporates.
Add the coconut powder, salt, turmeric powder and fry it for few more minutes.
Put off the flame and garnish the cabbage Bengal gram curry with the coriander leaves.
Serve it with rice.
Recipe Note
* Pepper rasam suits as the best side dish for this curry.
* Don’t let it fry for too long after the coconut is added.
